I have been hearing about The Ordinary for a while and I decided to try out some products. The Ordinary is an extremely affordable, science based, cruelty free, vegan brand. I picked these products to try because they are both under $7 and I have been wanting to give them a try.

Vitamin C: This is a very odd product. When I first read about it I heard so many negative things: it's grimy, its oily, and it stings. These are all very true. The concentration of vitamin C is very high in this product. It is so high that it gives a small sting to the skin for a few minutes after applying for the first few weeks, until your skin gets used to it. In order for vitamin C to be affective, it needs to have a high concentration, which leads to discomfort when applying.

How to Use: I have found that the best way to use this product is after washing your face at night, put a small dime size amount in your palm and gently press it into your skin. This will allow your skin to absorb everything. Then, I wait at least five minutes before applying anything else. At first, you may want to add a moisturizer to it and then press it into the skin, this will dilute the product and limit discomfort. This product is okay to use with other moisturizers and face oils (it pairs really well with anything with vitamin E in it).

Caution: As I said earlier, this product may cause stinging for the first few uses. Remember that this is normal, but if it becomes too uncomfortable, pick a different vitamin C product with a lower concentraition. Along with the stinging, I did notice redness and sensitivity around my nose, I applied less around that area to limit this.

Hyaluronic Acid: I loved this product from the moment I opened it. It is clear and scent free, so I already knew we were going to be best friends. When I applied it, I fell in love more. It goes on smooth and feels like water. This product is made to hydrate hydrate hydrate. Hyaluronic acid takes moisture from around it and gives moisture to the skin. It doesn't leave a greasy feeling, it pairs well with other products, and after just a few uses, you will notice moisture return to your skin.

How to use: I use this product morning and night after washing my face. You will want to leave your face damp, because as I stated earlier, hyaluronic acid steals moisture, so you want to be sure you give it something to work with right away so it doesn't take moisture from your skin. At night, I use a retinol first, and then I add the hyaluronic acid on top, after the retinol has dried. In the mornings, I am just sure to wear an SPF on top.

Caution: As I said, this product will take moisture from its surroundings. So, be sure to leave your face a bit damp so you can get the best possible results.

Both of these products are great. They are cruelty free, vegan, dye, and fragrance free, and so so affordable. I encourage you to do your own research before trying out any new products, but I would guess you will live these as much as I do!
